Jane Huang, M.D.
Jane Huang, MD, MS, is board-certified in medical oncology, hematology, and internal medicine. A native of Athens, she joined UCBC in December 2011 after three years at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where she treated a variety of patients with all types of cancers. A magna cum laude with high honors graduate of the University of Georgia, she double-majored in biochemistry and microbiology on a 4-year UGA Foundation Fellows scholarship. Following graduation, she received a Rotary International Foundation scholarship to study art history at the University of Wales in the United Kingdom, prior to attending medical school. She earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. During medical school, she performed basic science research focusing on cell signaling at the National Institutes of Health, which resulted in a publication in the Journal of Biological Chemistry. Following her internal medicine residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, she was selected to serve as chief resident, teaching and training residents as an attending instructor for an additional year.
Dr. Huang completed a three-year fellowship in oncology and hematology at MD Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas in Houston. She conducted genetic pancreatic cancer research during the fellowship that resulted in publications including abstracts and articles in the Journal of Clinical Oncology and Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology. Her research abstracts have been selected for presentation at several national meetings of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium. She also authored a textbook chapter on Anal Carcinoma in the MD Anderson Manual of Medical Oncology. Dr. Huang also worked as a clinical specialist and staff physician at MD Anderson Cancer Center. During her fellowship, she additionally earned a dual master’s degree in biomedical sciences focusing on patient-based clinical research from the University of Texas.
Dr. Huang is an attending physician at Athens Regional Medical Center, St. Mary’s Healthcare System and Landmark Hospital in Athens and a consulting physician at Piedmont Walton in Monroe. She holds current membership to the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Georgia Regents University.
She loves spending time with her family and shares a delight in traveling. Dr. Huang is passionate about providing the best quality of care to her patients day in and day out.
